PILGRIM GARDENS, Pa., Sept. 25, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Mind The Gap announces the creation and launch of the MIND THE GAP® SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM, an essay contest with two annual awards of $1,000 for students enrolled in accredited American universities or colleges.
Marc Gallo, President of Mind The Gap, explains the creation of the MIND THE GAP® SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM:
“At Mind The Gap we love music. All kinds of music.
We love music so much we want everyone to hear it, learn it, and be inspired by it as we are every day.
We advocate for music in schools through our support of local as well as national organizations that help keep music alive for children of all social and economic backgrounds in a time when they are losing more and more access to it.
We want to support students’ love for music as they continue their journey through college as well so we are offering the Mind The Gap® Scholarship Program that, although is open to all academic fields of study, reflects our mission in supporting musical arts.”
Any student currently enrolled in an accredited university or college in the United States can apply for the MIND THE GAP® SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM. Applicants should submit a 300-to-500 word essay regarding how music has influenced their choices academically, socially, and personally. Applicants should specifically focus on what role music (playing it, writing it, singing it, dancing to it, or listening to it) has played in what they do, who their friends are, why they chose their major, and who they want to become as an adult.
Two gifts totaling $2,000 will be awarded annually. One winner will be selected for a $1,000 award for Fall Semester; another winner will be selected for a $1,000 award for Spring Semester.
Applicants should email their submission to scholarship@wemindthegap.com by midnight EST on December 19, 2014 to be considered for the 2015 Spring Semester. The scholarship will be sent directly to the financial aid office of the winning candidates school.
